چکیده
Chronic periodontitis is the most common type of periodontitis. The main cause chronic bacterial colonization plaque. Porphyromonas gingivalis pathogen and has highest prevalence Bay leaf extract (Syzygium polyanthum wight) believed to have pharmacological effect that can be used as antibacterial. purpose this research was determine inhibitory bay on growth in vitro. method experimental laboratories with posttest only control group design. There were 30 samples divided into 6 groups, namely concentration 2.5%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 40% Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO) a control. Inhibitory test using Kirby-Bauer paper disc Mueller Hinton medium agar. Inhibition zone created around measured sliding caliper. results analyzed One Way Anova Post Hoc LSD test. showed mean had largest inhibition 7,6 mm lowest formed by 2,5% 1,94 mm. there significant difference among (p<0,05). conclusion 2,5%, higher resulting greater zone.

Antihyperglycemic Effect of Methanol Extract of Syzygium polyanthum (Wight.) Leaf in Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats †
Syzygium polyanthum (S. polyanthum), a plant belonging to Myrtaceae, is widely used in Indonesian and Malaysian cuisines. Diabetic patients in Indonesia also commonly use it as a traditional medicine. Hence, this study was conducted to investigate the antihyperglycemic effect of the methanol extract (ME) of S. polyanthum leaf and its possible mechanisms of action. To test for hypoglycemic activ...

Syzygium polyanthum (Wight) Walp. var. polyanthum leaves are consumed as a traditional Malay treatment of hypertension. This study investigates hypotensive potential of aqueous (AESP) and residual methanolic (met-AESP) extracts of S. polyanthum leaves and possible involvement of autonomic receptors. AESP and met-AESP (20 to 100 mg/kg) were intravenously administered into anaesthetized Wistar-Ky...

The aim of this study was to determine antibacterial activity of S. polyanthum L. (salam) leaves extract foodborne pathogens. All the foodborne pathogens were inhibited after treating with extract in disk diffusion test with range 6.67 ± 0.58-9.67 ± 0.58 mm of inhibition zone. The range of MIC values was between 0.63 and 1.25 mg/mL whereas MBC values were in the range 0.63 mg/mL to 2.50 mg/mL. ...
متن کاملPorphyromonas gingivalis
Editorial Periodontal diseases have long been associated with an increased, yet moderate, risk for the development of atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease. The postulated mechanism underlying this association is the low grade systemic inflammatory response to pathogens engaged in chronic periodontal infection, such as Porphyromonas gingivalis, which may facilitate atheroma formation and t...
متن کاملIn vitro activity of deferoxamine against Porphyromonas gingivalis.
Deferoxamine (DFO), an FDA-approved iron chelator used for treatment of iron poisoning, affects bacteria as iron availability is intimately connected with growth and several virulence determinants. However, little is known about the effect on oral pathogens. In this study, the effect of DFO on Porphyromonas gingivalis, a major periodontopathogen which has an essential growth requirement for hem...
